At this time, our Island animal shelter remains open for official business and by appointment only.

Thank you to all who have consistently been making donations. Your donations have made us able to keep our community projects going during this pandemic.

Three-year-old, male, yellow Labrador retriever, Charlie, has found his forever home. He was adopted into a home with everything he needs. Here’s to many happy years together!

A new cat has joined us while waiting for her new home. Myron is a ten-year-old, black female cat. She is a real sweetie and a lap cat to boot. This girl would be an asset to any family. Maybe that family could be yours?

Our two tabby cats looking for homes are Lemmy and Holly. Both these cats need owners with big hearts and patience. Lemmy is a male tabby, about eight years old. He’s very shy and confused so needs someone who will give him the time to find his confidence as he is fearful and confused right now. If you think you could be the person/people for Lemmy please call the shelter to set up an appointment.

Holly has been with us for about two and a half years now. She’s about six years of age and has been living as the shelter cat. Being out and about has helped her become more trusting of people. She still, however, will need someone with cat savvy due to her unique, feline personality. Can you be the one to give Holly a home?

Since we were unable to hold our annual Garden Party, this year we will be having an on-line auction on August 3. The Garden Party accounts for half of our annual budget and supports the spay wagon, rabies clinic and K-9 Kindergarten among other things. To donate, or preview auction items please visit animalshelterofmv.ejoinme.org/welcome.

We would like to remind everyone that tick and flea season is still here so please be diligent about checking your pets and yourself as well as keeping up with flea and tick treatments. Additionally, please be mindful of temperatures before taking your dog out on errands with you. A hot car can become a deadly place for a dog very quickly. And remember to check pavement temperatures before taking your best friend for a walk. Hot pavement can burn delicate pads. If it’s too hot on your barefoot, it’s too hot for your pup.

If anyone would like to make some donations from our wish list we are in need of laundry detergent, bleach, air fresheners, and toilet paper.

We’d like to thank everyone for their donations of used towels and such, but request that you refrain from making donations of this type at this time.

If anyone is in need of cat or dog food, we have plenty and are happy to share. And if anyone needs any crates we have an abundance and are happy to share. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.
