At this time, our Island animal shelter remains open for official business and by appointment only.

We have good news to report this week. Ten-year-old, black female, Myron, has found her forever home. Congratulations to Myron and her new family.

The other good news is that Lemmy is starting to come out of his shell. He’s begun coming out and greeting people. This is a big step for him, he’s been fearful and confused so we’re very pleased and hopeful that he’ll now find his forever home soon. Lemmy is a male tabby, about eight years old. Could your home be the one where he can feel secure?

Our other tabby cat looking for a home is Holly. Holly has been with us for about two-and-a-half years now. She’s about six years of age and has been living as the shelter cat. Being out and about has helped her become more trusting of people. She still, however, will need someone with cat savvy due to her unique, feline personality. Can you be the one to give Holly a home?

A big thank you for the generosity of everyone who participated in our online auction. The auction was a big success. And a special thank you to the committee members who worked so hard to make this happen. We couldn’t do it without all of you!

With the hot, humid weather we’ve been having we’d like to remind everyone to be mindful of temperatures before taking your dog out on errands with you. A hot car can become a deadly place for a dog very quickly. And remember to check pavement temperatures before taking your best friend for a walk. Hot pavement can burn delicate pads. If it’s too hot on your barefoot, it’s too hot for your pup.

Also, tick and flea season is still here so please be diligent about checking your pets and yourself as well as keeping up with flea and tick treatments.

If anyone would like to make some donations from our wish list we are in need of laundry detergent, bleach, air fresheners, and toilet paper.

We’d like to thank everyone for their donations of used towels and such but request that you refrain from making donations of this type at this time.

If anyone is in need of cat or dog food, we have plenty and are happy to share. And if anyone needs any crates we have an abundance and are happy to share those, too. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.
