We have no adoptions to report this week, but we have a very special pet of the week. Lulu is a black lab mix who is approximately a year and a half old. This girl is the definition of sweet, gentle and loving, yet she does still have, given her age, some puppy exuberance. Lulu came to us as a stray and seems not to know her basics, but we have begun training and she is an eager learner, so it should be a breeze. She’s learning to walk calmly on a leash, and is cat friendly too. This girl is a ten, so come and meet her, we don’t think she’ll be here long.

Molly and Mia, two Guinea pigs who are looking for their forever home. Molly is four years old with brown and white markings. Mia, who is three, is a calico with a black face. These girls are well socialized, sweet, have big appetites and come with a cage if needed.

The next nail clinic is scheduled for this Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. until noon. Dogs must be leashed and cats, rabbits and Guinea pigs must be in carriers. Walk-ins only, $20 fee.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours: 508-627-8662.
