At this time, our Island animal shelter remains open for official business and by appointment only.

We have adoption news. A five-year old, female, red tick coon hound named Karma came in and went out in one day. This sweet girl lucked out by getting a family with a huge yard to run. Let’s hope she has good karma this time around. And the Guinea pigs have gone to a new home together and everyone is very happy. Congratulations to all.

Bumpy is looking for his forever home. He’s a two-year old, male, Wheaton terrier who has been blind since birth. This really doesn’t bother him; he finds his way around just fine once he learns his surroundings. Otherwise he’s a wonderful dog. Bumpy is crate trained, well socialized, good with other dogs and as playful as a terrier can be. Please contact the shelter if you would like to meet Bumpy. He’ll be staying in his current home until his perfect match is found.

We have an adolescent, black, male cat looking for a forever home. His name is Thackery and he is sweet, sweet, sweet. He also has beautiful, big green eyes.

Lemmy, the shy, male tabby, has made friends with a kitten leading us to believe that he may be happiest in a home with another cat, but a single cat home wouldn’t be a deal breaker either. Lemmy keeps coming out of his shell more and more and has started coming when called and giving kisses. This is one sweet boy with big green eyes. Lemmy is about eight-years old and up-to-date on all his vaccinations.

Our other tabby cat looking for a home is Holly. Holly has been with us for about two and a half years now. She’s about six years of age and has been living as the shelter cat. Being out and about has helped her become more trusting of people. She still, however,

will need someone with cat savvy due to her unique, feline personality.

Remember that tick and flea season ramping up again so please be diligent about checking your pets and yourself as well as keeping up with flea and tick treatments.

If anyone would like to make some donations from our wish list we are in need of laundry detergent, bleach, air fresheners, and toilet paper.

We’d like to thank everyone for their donations of used towels and such, but request that you refrain from making donations of this type at this time.

If anyone is in need of cat or dog food, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. And if anyone needs any crates we have an abundance and are happy to share. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.
