At this time, our Island animal shelter remains open for official business and by appointment only.

The good news this week Bumpy, the Wheaton terrier, has been adopted into a new home. And Karma, the red tick coonhound, is thriving in her new home as well. Happiness all around.

We have two adolescent, black, male cats looking for forever homes. Thackery is sweet and very playful. He also has beautiful, big green eyes. This guy would be a great addition to any home, as would Scar. Scar was picked up as a stray in Oak Bluffs but you would never know it. He’s been described as a 10! He’s also got golden eyes.

Lemmy, the shy, male tabby has made friends with a kitten leading us to believe that he may be happiest in a home with another cat, but a single cat home wouldn’t be a deal breaker either. Lemmy keeps coming out of his shell more and more and has started coming when called and giving kisses. This is one sweet boy with big green eyes. Lemmy is about eight-years old and up-to-date on all his vaccinations.

Our other tabby cat looking for a home is Holly. Holly has been with us for about two and a half years now. She’s about six years of age and has been living as the shelter cat. Being out and about has helped her become more trusting of people. She still, however, will need someone with cat savvy due to her unique, feline personality.

Remember that tick and flea season ramping up again so please be diligent about checking your pets and yourself as well as keeping up with flea and tick treatments.

If anyone would like to make some donations from our wish list we are in need of laundry detergent, bleach, air fresheners, and toilet paper.

We’d like to thank everyone for their donations of used towels and such, but request that you refrain from making donations of this type at this time.

If anyone needs dog food, we have plenty and are happy to share. Crates too are available for free.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662.
