The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard remains open for official business and by appointment only.

More good news to report, Thackery, the black stray cat, has an adoption pending. Fingers crossed that all goes well.

Come get your cat! We have two totally awesome felines looking for forever homes. Lemmy is an eight-year old, black and gray tabby who couldn’t be sweeter. When he first came to us he was shy and confused but he has really blossomed and is seeking out affection and giving kisses and head butts. Lemmy gets along with other cats and is up to date and ready to go.

Our other totally awesome cat is Scar, a black adolescent with golden eyes. Scar was picked up as a stray in Oak Bluffs but you would never know it. He’s been described as a 10 and has turned out to be a lap cat who seeks out attention. Come get either one of these boys, they both deserve good homes.

Our other tabby cat looking for a home is Holly. Holly has been with us for about two and a half years now. She’s about six years and has been living as the shelter cat. Being out and about has helped her become more trusting of people. She still will need someone with cat savvy due to her unique, feline personality. Can you be the one to give Holly a home?

Remember tick and flea season is ramping up again so please be diligent about checking your pets and yourself as well as keeping up with flea and tick treatments.

If anyone would like to make some donations from our wish list we are in need of laundry detergent, bleach, air fresheners, and toilet paper.

We’d like to thank everyone for their donations of used towels and such, but request that you refrain from making donations of this type at this time.

The shelter has plenty of cat and dog food. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. And if anyone needs any crates we have an abundance and are happy to share.

Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.
