Even though we had some really windy days the sun was shining and it was warm. But the wind is causing a lot of leaves to fall and the raking has begun. I wish the wind would blow the leaves into the compost pile.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Otavio Mendes and Grady Phelps who celebrated Oct. 11; Charlotte Knapp, Oct. 12; Taj Barbosa, Oct. 14; and to Reese McCracken and Hevellyn Santos who celebrated their day Oct. 15.

Congratulations to all the brides and grooms who were united in marriage this weekend. I know of at least four and I know there were many more.

There were a lot of people here this weekend. Town was once again busy and the Stop & Shop was buzzing all weekend. I am happy for the merchants and restaurants and give them a shout-out for them doing what they can to make the shopping and dining safe for people.

Don’t forget it is time to plant your spring bulbs. They always make people smile and provide hope that spring will come again. The crocuses are usually the first to show their little heads and make us smile.

The derby will be ending this weekend and I think there will be a lot of snoring going on as many have been chasing “the big one” for the past few weeks, night and day. However, there are a few fishermen out there that also are hunters, and bow and arrow hunting started last week. So I am sure they will be sitting in trees instead of boats or standing on the beach. If you are walking in or around a wooded area please be careful and talk loudly or sing if you are alone, and put orange on your four legged friends.

Don’t forget to vote. If you want to avoid the polls on Nov. 3, you can vote early. Go to the Edgartown Town hall starting Oct. 17 through Friday Oct. 30. The hours are Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
