At this time, our Island animal shelter remains open for official business and by appointment only.

October has been such a good month for adoption, let’s keep it going! Lemmy is still waiting for a forever home. He’s an eight-year old, black and gray tabby who couldn’t be sweeter. When he first came to us he was shy and confused but he has really blossomed and is seeking out affection and giving kisses and head butts. He needs a real home where he can feel confident. Lemmy gets along with other cats and is up-to-date on vaccinations and ready to go. Come get this boy.

Our other tabby cat looking for a home is Holly. Holly has been with us for almost three years now. She’s about seven years of age and has been living as the shelter cat. Being out and about has helped her become more trusting of people. She still, however, will need someone with cat savvy due to her unique, feline personality.

Remember that ticks are still here so please be diligent about checking your pets and yourself as well as keeping up with flea and tick treatments.

If anyone would like to make some donations from our wish list we are in need of laundry detergent, bleach, air fresheners and toilet paper.

We’d like to thank everyone for their donations of used towels and such, but request that you refrain from making donations of this type at this time.

If anyone is in need of cat or dog food, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. And if anyone needs any crates we have an abundance and are happy to share. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours: Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662.
