At this time, our Island animal shelter remains open for official business and by appointment only.

We have adoption news to report. Bug, the silver tabby, Manx kitten has a new Mom. And the Aussie/Chow Chow mix, Bear, is out on a trial with an adoption pending.

There are a number of cats waiting for forever homes. Tux is six years of age with a beautiful, silky long coat. And her markings are tuxedo of course. She’s recently been shaved due to being matted, but it will definitely grow back and be even more lustrous.

Mabel is a silver/gray and white, tabby with a super sweet personality. This is very affectionate cat. She’s only about a year or two old so still a playful youngster.

Also available for adoption are Pee Wee, a six years old, tabby and white Manx, who is very sweet and gentle. Jack is a 12-year-old, orange male. He’s still very depressed and needs a home with love to feel secure again.

We have a special needs cat looking for a home as an only cat. Summer is a nine-year old, calico ragdoll mix with blue eyes who is very beautiful and sweet as can be. She suffers from a respiratory issue that has been difficult to treat. Her test results were negative for FIP and she is now on medications that should help her out. The adoption fee will be waived for anyone who has it in their heart to give her a home.

Our other tabby cat looking for a home is Holly. Holly has been with us for three years now. She’s about seven years of age and has been living as the shelter cat. Being out and about has helped her become more trusting of people. She will need someone with cat savvy due to her unique, feline personality.

Who wants a Guinea pig(s)? We have two adorable sisters, about eight weeks old. One of the two girls is brown and white with adorable white eyebrows and a white blaze, while the other is a white and black. Volunteers have been handling these babies to be sure they adore people when they go to their new homes.

If anyone would like to make some donations from our wish-list we are in need of laundry detergent, bleach, air fresheners, paper towels, and toilet paper. We’d like to thank everyone for their donations of used towels and such, but request that you refrain from making donations of this type at this time.

If anyone is in need of cat or dog food, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. And if anyone needs any crates we have an abundance. Just give us a call during regular Shelter hours.
