The saying “If you don’t like the weather wait a minute” certainly lived up to its reputation. We almost had flip flops on last week and this week the Ugg’s are out with fleece lined leggings. I just hope next week we are back to the warm side.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Elias Graves who celebrated March 13; Harper Gilkes and Brayann Silva, March 15; Daniel Bortolotto, Kenner Neves and Ana Sorde, March 16; Alexandra Quinn, Asher Meyer, March 17; and to Harlow Hannah and Caleb Lucier who celebrate their day today March 19.

It was so nice during that warm spell. I walked the dog down to the Boys and Girls Club and on the baseball field were a father and son pitching balls and hitting. There were young adults practicing lacrosse, men were playing soccer, and kids were playing on the swings. Yes, there were masks and everyone was social distancing as best as possible but the happy sounds were there.

Easter is only a couple of weeks away and I know that the nursery truck will be arriving soon with the Easter plants. I love the Lillies as they bring back so many good memories. Plus, the colors of the tulips and the daffodils will add to the beauty and promise that better days are coming. Of course, there is also the Easter candy, the Cadbury eggs and jellybeans to help make things better too.

I know the P.A. is in Oak Bluffs but they are an Island-wide organization when it comes to helping people. Many Islanders have benefited from the organization’s generosity and each year they give out thousands of dollars in student scholarships. But this year some of their fundraising events were cancelled and so they are having a grab-and-go baked chicken dinner fundraiser on April 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and a scratch ticket tree. If you would like to donate you can send a check to Holy Ghost Association, Box 2203 Oak Bluffs 02557.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
