At this time, our Island animal shelter remains open for official business and by appointment only.
The news of the week is that Cloud is out on a trial and things look promising. Fingers crossed for this sweet boy.
Is anyone in the Deer Run area missing a younger male tabby cat? We’ve named him Jeff and he doesn’t behave like a feral at all so we assume he must have an owner. He has an ulcer in his left eye that may be a way to identify him. If you think he’s yours please contact the shelter to retrieve your boy.
We need someone to fall for Summer, like everyone here has. Summer is a nine-year old, female Torti-Ragdoll/Bobtail mix cat who has as lovely a disposition as she is beautiful. She has the face of a calico, with striking blue eyes, and her body is bi-color. Although she doesn’t like to be held she is as affectionate as could be and just adores belly rubs. And she still enjoys playtime. Summer has a respiratory issue so the adoption fee will be waived for the angel that gives her a home. She doesn’t behave as if she’s unhealthy; she has a bit of wheeze.
Also available for adoption are two female, baby Guinea Pigs that would look adorable dressed as bunnies for Easter. Both of these babies are hand raised. Stop in to see if one both of them catches your fancy.
The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. If anyone is in need of cat food, dog food or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours at 508-627-8662.
Hours are: Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday.
