More adoption news to report this week. Acasia, the lop-eared rabbit, has found her forever home. Lucky bunny and lucky family.

The pet of the week is Roo, a fourteen-years-young, dilute calico, and one of the most affectionate cats we’ve had. She purrs and purrs and just wants to be with you and get love. She also has beautiful sparking blue eyes. Due to her love of affection from people she’s often not very tolerant of other cats so would do best in a home where she can be the one and only. Come meet her and see if she’s the one for you. She’s ready to go.

We also have an adorable, eight-weeks-old, male, white with tabby kitten. His name is Quinn and he’s so sweet and loving. He’s a playful kitten but still loves to be held. He won’t last long so hurry if you think you might be interested.

We have three other cats looking for their new families. Gordon is a nine-year-old, long haired, black cat who couldn’t be friendlier, and is quite the character. Then there are the two old timers. Buster is 17, but in perfect health, and he’s a tabby, and Faith is a calico in her 20s.

If anyone is interested in adopting Guinea pigs we have four super friendly girls: Bonnie, Miss T, Humpty and Dumpty to choose from. All have been hand-raised and are quite friendly.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 5 p.m.
