It’s been a good time for adoptions, and we’re thankful for that. Roo, the blued eyed girl, has found a forever home with a wonderful family, and Miles, the jazzy tuxedo cat, has an adoption pending. Aria, the chocolate Labrador Retreiver, has found her perfect match as well. So much to be thankful for.

We have two male, adolescent kittens looking for forever homes. The tabby we call Rascal and the white with tabby is Marshall. These are extremely nice boys, very friendly and affectionate. Hurry, they won’t last long.

Our other cat looking for a family is Faith, a calico in her twenties. Although she’s blind and deaf she’s hanging in there and just a someplace and warm and loving in her dotage. Could that home be yours? Due to her advanced age Faith’s adoption fee will be waived.

If anyone is interested in adopting Guinea pigs we have four super friendly girls; Bonnie, Miss T, Humpty and Dumpty to choose from. All have been hand-raised and are very friendly.

We’d also like to remind everyone that hunting season is here and continues through the end of the year. Remember to wear bright colors when walking in the woods, and keep your dogs leashed. And please stay out of wooded areas around dawn and dusk.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 5 p.m.
