The Edgartown fire department quickly put out a house fire in Hidden Cove Saturday morning that sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries.

Fire chief Alex Schaeffer said the call came at 9:21 a.m. Saturday for the fire at 1 Hidden Cove.

There were two people in the house when the fire started, Mr. Schaeffer told the Gazette by phone later, and both got out of the house before firefighters arrived. One was transported to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital with minor injuries, Chief Schaeffer said.

The call was for a stove fire in the kitchen, the chief said, and flames were showing from the kitchen window when firefighters first arrived at the scene. There was significant damage in the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the house, Chief Schaeffer said, but no structural damage to the house.

Oak Bluffs, West Tisbury and Tisbury firefighters also responded. All crews had left the scene by 11:38 a.m., according to Chief Schaeffer.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
