This week’s adoption news is that one of the senior cats, Maxie, is out on a trial, and black and white kitten Walter has an adoption pending as well. We wish them both luck.

We need an angel for an elderly, male Jack Russell terrier. Petey is 15 years young and is deaf, but he’s a good boy with plenty of life left in him. He also has a brown eye patch, hence his name. His only down side is that he shouldn’t live with cats but otherwise this is a great little dog. Come on JRT lovers: come and get this cute guy. He doesn’t belong in a shelter.

Our other residents in need of homes include: Lily the 16-year-old tortoiseshell cat; Faith our 22-year-old cat; Humpty and Dumpty, the guinea pig sisters; Fred, a male guinea pig, and Ophelia, the awesome hamster.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 5 p.m.
