Nomination papers are now available for town offices in Tisbury, where 15 seats are up for a vote at the May 24 election, set by the select board this week.

April 5 is the deadline for filing nomination papers with town clerk Hillary Conklin, town administrator Jay Grande said at Tuesday’s board meeting.

The annual town meeting will take place April 12 in the Tisbury School gymnasium.

It will be the town’s last gathering in the gym, which is slated for demolition as part of the $50 million school renovation and addition beginning this year. Preliminary work is expected to begin during April vacation, school committee chair Amy Houghton told the Gazette Thursday.

Positions to be determined at the Tisbury ballot box in May include the select board seat currently held by Jeff Kristal, three finance advisory committee seats, three on the board of assessors and one each on the board of health, school committee, water commission, planning board and Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank Commission.
All are three-year terms, with the exception of the five-year planning board position and two board of assessors seats: one for two years and the other for one year.
