We have some unfortunate news to report, Petey’s adoption fell through. However, that makes him our pet of the week and we’re hoping that this new photo helps that happen. Petey is a 15 years young Jack Russell terrier/dachshund cross. He may be deaf but he still has plenty of life left in him. He also has a brown eye patch, hence his name. His only down side is that he shouldn’t live with cats, but otherwise this is a great little dog.

Our other animals in need of homes include our newest resident Lola, a lovely 15-years-young Russian Blue cat; Faith, our 22-year-old feline; Lily, the 16-years-young tortoiseshell; Humpty and Dumpty, the Guinea Pig sisters; Fred the male Guinea Pig; and Ophelia is the hamster cutie.

We would also like to report that Barbara Prada Memorial Rabies Clinic held last Saturday was again a success. We were able to inoculate 61 dogs and cats. Many thanks to all the veterinarians, animal control officers, and shelter volunteers for all their help.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662.
