An Oak Bluffs man has been charged with heroin trafficking following a drug bust last week, Tisbury police said in a statement.

Jeffrey Owen Cook, 59, was arrested at the Steamship Authority terminal in Vineyard Haven on April 19 by Tisbury police and members of the Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force. He was found in possession of approximately 48 grams of heroin, and subsequently charged with traficking heroin (36-100 grams), a felony, according to the statement.

The drug arrest was the result of a months-long investigation by the task force, police said.

Arraignment was set for Friday, April 22, in Edgartown district court.
