Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary has announced that Island students in grades five through twelve will host the fourth annual Youth Climate Action Summit on Friday, May 27.
More than 200 students will gather to rally around the topic of climate action. The event is hosted through Felix Neck’s Youth Climate Leadership Program (YLCP) and organized and planned by Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School’s Protect Your Environment Club.
The day will begin at 8:30 a.m. and has a full schedule of events focused around hope, the power of positive change and nature’s ability to regenerate. Activities include breakout discussions on different climate-related topics, a keynote from Rebecca Gilbert of Native Earth Teaching Farm, climate-related activities and plant-based foods. Students and local experts will participate in discussions to create a Climate Action Plan for their schools and communities to mitigate climate impacts.
