Is anyone in the South Road/Abel's Hill area of Chilmark missing their cat? We have a stunning, long-haired, orange and white male, stray cat with pale green eyes who was found in that area. This must be someone’s pet, he’s very sweet and docile. If this is your cat please contact the shelter immediately; he’s being called Obi Wan.

Our pet of the week is Vinny, a two-year-old male, white cat with tabby markings. He can be a bit shy, but is very affectionate with his family, a real lap cat. However, he is fearful so your guests probably won’t see him, and he’s afraid of other cats so needs to be the one and only.

There are three dogs in need of forever homes. Cooper is a one-year-old male, hound mix. He’s a sweet, smart, friendly boy with lots of puppy exuberance who will need a home with someone who can keep up with his training. Jack is an older gentleman, but he’s very well behaved. He’s a hound mix and very cute, up-to-date and ready to go. Tag is a nine-year-old male, Springer Spaniel/Labrador Retriever/Boxer mix who is being re-homed due to no fault of his own. He’s a good boy who’s still playful and lots of fun.

We also have a number cats in need of homes. There are two female calicos, Aunt and niece, who we hope can stay together. Sheba is seven and Nina is six, both indoor/outdoor, spayed, up-to-date and ready to move in with you. And the lovely, buff and white, one-year-old kitty Sandy is also waiting for her family to find her. If you prefer a male, Buddy is a big, beautiful tuxedo who is just an awesome cat.

Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.
