We’re happy to report that two dogs, Snoop the two-year old Labrador retriever, and Willy the Jack Russell terrier, have both found their forever homes. Both came in and went right out, and that’s the way we like it. Good luck in your new homes.
This week we’re featuring five-year-old sisters who need to stay together. Mozzie is a gray and white, domestic, long-haired cat who is an absolute doll and gorgeous as well. Her sister, Teaser, is a tuxedo who loves to play. These are very sweet cats, come and get them.
We have a few other cats in need of homes. Alice is a two-year-old, petite, dilute tortoiseshell. Dusty and Gracie are 11-year-old housemates that we would like to rehome together so their adoption fees will be waived. Dusty is a light silver/buff medium hair and Grace is tabby and white. These are very sweet girls who are frightened at being at the shelter and need a stable home.
Also available are Laverne and Shirley, two large black rabbits that come with their own hutch. These girls have been hand-raised and are very friendly. At their former home they enjoyed spending time outside in their fenced yard so someplace where they could enjoy some outdoor time would be great for them. These girls would be delightful pets for any rabbit lovers, stop in and meet them. And if you prefer Guinea pigs, we also have two, calico males: Bert and Ernie.
There a couple of dogs in need of forever homes. Jack is an older gentleman, but he’s very well behaved, and a true gentleman. He’s a hound mix and, up-to-date and ready to go. And so is Tag, a nine-year-old, male, Springer Spaniel/Labrador Retriever/Boxer mix who is being rehomed due to no fault of his own. He’s a good boy who is still playful and lots of fun.
We’d like to invite everyone to the Celebration of Pets, Animals Great and Small on July 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Agricultural Hall. There will be pet related events and, of course, the blessing of the animals.
The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.
The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662.
