We are happy to report that Australian cattle dog puppy, Ella, has found her forever family. Wishing you all many years of happiness.

Rabbits Laverne and Shirley were seen on a poster at the Agricultural Fair and snapped right up. And the big gray cat, Grayson, has an adoption pending.

This week we’re featuring Cassie, aka Brenda in last week’s column, a young tuxedo. She’s a petite girl, indoor/outdoor, very sweet and playful, gets along with other cats, is up to date and ready to go. And if anyone wants a guinea pig, Ruby is hand-raised, loves to be held and cuddled and coos with contentedness.

We also have some other cats in need of homes. Gracie is 11, tabby and white, and an absolute sweetie, but she’s very unhappy here at the shelter. Can someone give her a stable home so she can have some happiness in her life again? And Teaser is a five-year old, typical tuxedo female. Both of these girls deserve to be in loving homes.

We would like to remind everyone that tick and flea season is still here so please be diligent about checking your pets and yourself as well as keeping up with flea and tick treatments.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
