We had a nice misty rain and it rained all day Tuesday, but we only got less than a half inch. We need so much more. But we will take what we can get.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Rayssa Donato on August 28; Max Rosenberg on August 31; Marc Lacerda and Awan Rodrigues on Sept. 5; Azarah Vasoncelos on Sept. 6; Jackson Munson on Sept. 7; Nalina Mehta on Sept. 8; and to Taylin Boyd and Kahlia Nascimento, who celebrate their day on Sept. 9.

Congratulations to Anthony Dore and Jessica Matus who were married on Sept. 3 at the Tashmoo pumping station in Vineyard Haven. Anthony is the son of Maury and Susan Dore; Jessica and her family are from Indiana. Here is to many years together.

Facebook was flooded with pictures of kids on the first day of school. Some were holding boards with what grade they were going into; some with what their dream careers are. The younger ones smiling and the older ones...some were smiling and some you could tell were saying “this is the last year for these pictures.”

Donaroma’s nursery is getting ready to make the big switch from summer flowers to chrysanthemums, asters, pansies and fall grasses. It is one of my favorite times as I love the colors of the mums.

The Edgartown Library has its new newsletter out. They always have a great activity planned for all ages. They are back to their in-house yoga with Colleen Macsuga, held for all levels at 9 a.m. on Saturdays. On Thursdays, chef Chris Edwards will be cooking something special. Call the library to register. They are now offering free access to The Washington Post online. Always something to do at the library.

Next week the Derby will be in full swing so be prepared for tired and excited fishermen driving around. It is fun to watch participants both young and old weigh in their catches.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
