I did the change-over of clothes this past weekend and I am almost positive that it will keep the weather warm. After a cool Saturday morning and with most of my sweaters and sweatshirts packed away, I thought it might be time. We will see.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Sarah Martins and Nazare McIntosh who celebrated on Oct. 9; Grady Phelps on Oct. 11; Charlotte Knapp on Oct. 12; Miles Brown on Oct. 13; and to Taj Barbosa, who celebrates his day on Oct. 14.

Now that this past holiday weekend is over, it is time to concentrate on what is to come. The Derby will be over shortly but men are sitting in trees again so please be careful if you are walking in the woods, especially with your dog. Please be sure to wear your orange and talk loudly or turn up your music.

Halloween is coming. We look forward to the different scarecrows around town from the Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School. Kids will be in their costumes and doing their parade through the stores over Halloween weekend. Then Thanksgiving will be here before you know it and then the man in the red suit will be arriving. No, I am not rushing things but it seems the older you get, the faster the holidays get here.

Don’t forget to check out the library for activities, especially for children. Elyse Retmier always has something special for the kid’s activity day plus the other programs they offer.

I could not close without mentioning the beautiful harvest moon this past week. It was like daylight outside on that night. So many beautiful pictures of it rising filled Facebook.

Please remember me to send me news or announcements that you would like to share.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
