As we end the year, we have one adoption to report. A feral kitten came in and was adopted almost immediately. Lucky duck.

Our pet of the week is Alice, a two-year old torbi and white cat who is looking for a home with experienced cat owners. She’s a very affectionate girl who adores people and attention, but she can get over-stimulated. Alice is the type of cat who believes she’s the queen of the castle, but she’s happiest when she’s being adored. And she’s happy to share her castle with dogs but no other cats please; she wants all the attention.

Our other cats in need of homes are Ceecee, a four-year old, long-haired orange girl. She’s sweet and affectionate. Luckily, she enjoys being brushed and she can be vocal at times. She’d also prefer to be an only cat. Dee Dee is a two-year old, indoor/outdoor calico who loves being outdoors. She is a little shy and would like a patient owner. We feel that once she feels secure, she will blossom into a sweet, affectionate companion.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
