We have no adoptions to report this week, but we are thrilled that we were able to reunite a missing cat with its owner. Microchipping does work.

This week we are again featuring Max, the 10 year-old Labrador retriever/husky mix. He is a friendly, playful boy that is well mannered, very people-oriented and gets along with other dogs. However he is not a fan of cats. He’s neutered, up to date on vaccines and ready to go.

We also have two feline residents in need of homes. Alice is a two-year old torbi and white cat who is looking for a home with experienced cat owners. She’s a very affectionate girl who adores people and attention but believes she’s the one in charge. She tolerates dogs but would prefer to be an only cat. Dee Dee, a sweet, year-old calico that is playful and quite affectionate, can be shy at times, but we feel she will blossom when she feels comfortable in her own home. She is indoor/outdoor but can be an escape artist in hopes of getting outside. She is also spayed, up to date on vaccines and ready to go.

The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is here for our community. We’re always available and our door is always open should your adoption not be a perfect fit. Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours.

The shelter phone number is 508-627-8662. Hours are: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
