The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

Nov. 30

William S. Sanfilippo, 59, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on a Nov. 25 charge in Edgartown of violating an abuse prevention order. Defendant held at Edgartown House of Correction. Detention hearing held Dec. 4 and bail set at $2,000 cash and $20,000 surety. GPS monitoring ordered with a curfew of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and including zone of alleged victim’s home. While defendant still held at Edgartown House of Correction, defendant to have no phone access except to and from his attorney. Pretrial hearing held Dec. 8. Defendant found guilty based on guilty plea. Defendant sentenced to one year at the Edgartown House of Correction with 41 days served and the balance suspended. Defendant given alien warnings and placed on probation until Dec. 6, 2024 with further conditions to stay away from and have no contact with victim and to maintain employment while on probation.

Dec. 4

Leila D. Carvalho, 38, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned on July 17 charges in Oak Bluffs of a marked lanes violation, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a first offense of using an electronic device while operating a motor vehicle. Defendant released on personal recognizance. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Dec. 29.

Dec. 8

Elvis G. Pereira, 28, of Edgartown, was arraigned on Sept. 3 charges in Edgartown of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and two charges of driving a child under eight years and under 58 inches without a carseat. Defendant released on personal recognizance and payment of $150 counsel fee. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Feb. 16, 2024.
