As I write this the weatherman is reporting record breaking heat wave in Massachusetts, but am relieved to see we are in the green and not going to be affected. We have always been lucky to have our nice sea breeze and the ocean to jump into.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Calvin Brown and Marianela Rivera Rigall, who celebrated June 17; Teagan Brown, Heytor Dias, June 18; Demond Moore, June 19; Faye Beaulieu, June 20; and to Carlos Dias who celebrate his day today June 21.

School is officially out. I did not see the kids leave school Tuesday but I saw a zip in their step on the way to their last day of school. Plus, it was a half day, and it was field day so it was fun and games.

So now summer is officially here, with summer camp, swimming lessons and beach visits. The landscapers are done with the gardens except for a few holes here and there, the farmers markets are open, the lines at the Stop & Shop are back, the air conditioning is on, the bi-plane is doing tours, brides are looking beautiful coming out of churches, to-go meals are your dinners after a hot and busy day at work, sun tan lotions permeate the air and aloe is the best seller at the drug store, the harbor is filling up the moorings with sailboats, and ice cream on the dock is a great way to end a busy day and watch the moon rise.

I think one of the best things about summer is that it is light until almost nine. You get to work outside in the garden, or have a late barbecue, or take a walk. The only downside is you get busy doing something outside and when you go in you realize that it is 8 p.m. and dinner is going to be late. But summer is short and we have to enjoy every minute of it.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
