A Steamship Authority dock worker was injured over the weekend after he was hit in the jaw by a winch, according to the ferry line.

The incident happened around 11:05 a.m. in Woods Hole as the M/V Nantucket was preparing to depart from the dock, said Sean Driscoll, a Steamship spokesperson. The tide moved the vessel, causing the docking winch to spin as the dock worker was releasing the ferry.

The winch then hit the worker in the face, Mr. Driscoll said.

Steamship terminal employees and state police helped the worker and called the Falmouth Fire Department, who brought the worker to Falmouth Hospital for further treatment.
