We are ecstatic to tell you about our pets of the week. We have two five-year-old pure-bred Labs: Biscuit a yellow lab and Homer a black lab. They are both neutered males, not biologically related but as closely bonded as it can get. Biscuit and Homer are house trained, very active, sweet and affectionate, and playful. We are unsure how Biscuit will be with cats. Note, these boys must go home together.

We have great news about Rocky, the two-year-old, Husky/Pomeranian mix who we wrote about last week. Rocky’s original owner has a relative who stepped up to the plate and will foster Rocky until the original owner can have Rocky back. This is the perfect scenario for Rocky and his family.

Tito, the three-year-old Yorky, has a pending adoption. He went home with his potential owner this weekend and we are awaiting the status on the adoption but thinking it will be official and finalized this week. Otherwise, we still have a long list of people who are in line to meet him, therefore we are no longer taking applications on Tito. Thank you all for your interest.

The next nail clinic takes place Saturday, August 3 from 10 a.m. until noon; walks-ins only, $20 cash, check or Venmo. All dogs on leashes, all cats in carriers, please.

Did you know that while dogs are at the shelter training is implemented whenever there is a need. And when the dog is adopted, the new owner receives one free training session courtesy of dog trainer Jeremy Jones. We also offer puppy training classes and “AKC Good Citizen” training.

The hot summer weather is here, be aware of the temperature when thinking of taking your best friend on an outing with you. Hot pavement can burn tender pads and a hot car can become deadly in a matter of minutes. Leave your best friend home.

Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours:
