We’re thrilled to report that the Labrador retrievers Biscuit and Homer’s adoption has been finalized. We’re delighted for everyone involved.

Our pet of the week is Nellie, a 12-year-old, medium hair, torbi cat. Nellie will need a special angel to adopt her as she is shy and fearful. Her adoption fee will be waived due to her age.

Thank you to all who donated jewelry to the shelter. Our event was a great success and we would like to thank all who worked with us on the jewelry team sorting, appraising and polishing the wonderful jewelry that came to us in abundance.

Did you know that vacationers and locals can borrow or buy a cage or carrier, usually a small donation is made. At the request of MV DART we keep approximately 50 cages/carriers in surplus for emergencies.

The hot summer weather is here, be aware of the temperature when thinking of taking your best friend on an outing with you. Hot pavement can burn tender pads and a hot car can become deadly in a matter of minutes. Leave your best friend home.

If anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours: 508-627-8662.
