We certainly got the rain we needed, but again we got it all in three days. People say that there were measurements of four plus inches recorded in Edgartown.

As we were sitting at work or home, there were many weddings going on. I know there were at least 40, but I am sure there were many more. They had a very wet and windy day, but as the saying goes: if it rains on the bride, it is good luck. Shannon Dolby and Andy Smith were married during hurricane Ivan and it was a great party despite what was going on outside the tent. They just celebrated their 20th anniversary. So, congratulations to all you newlyweds and many years of happiness.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. I have at least called for the birthday list, but it was not ready for this weeks deadline. Now, I just have to pick it up.

This is one of the two of my favorite seasons. The mums, the peppers and the cabbages are coming in with their vibrant colors. The millet grass is here, which makes the goldfinches very happy and Paula found her first praying mantas. The bees are still buzzing around, but they are slow moving on the cold mornings, which gives us a chance to pet them.

It is fall. The days are getting much shorter, people are starting to talk about making chili for dinner and you have to wear layers, because it is cool in the morning but by noon you are shedding one layer. The flip flops are still on, but the sneakers are coming to the front of the lineup and your TV shows are starting their new seasons. Now, people are starting to think about Halloween, carving pumpkins, making those pumpkin seeds and apple picking is a big outing. Our mothers told us not to rush our lives, because time will go so much faster when you are older. Well moms, you were right.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
