The third annual Fall Film Showcase from Circuit Arts begins this weekend with an opening night screening of The Apprentice.

The festival takes place at the Grange Hall in West Tisbury and runs Oct. 4 and 5 and Oct. 10 to 13.

The Apprentice is a narrative detailing Donald Trump’s early days. Also this weekend is Saturday Night, which looks at the leadup to the first episode of Saturday Night Live in 1975.

Next weekend features ENO, a documentary about the inventive career of musician Brian Eno. The film uses generative artificial intelligence to create a film where no two showings will be the same. Martha is a new documentary about Martha Stewart directed by Emmy-winning director R.J. Cutler. Indie comedy The Room Next Door and the award-winning Running on Sand from Israel round out the lineup.

Director of programming Minah Oh referred to the festival as a “tasting menu” of films that are generating the most buzz right now.

“What’s exciting about it is getting the temperature through the film circuit of other festivals and seeing what’s out there and then collecting the best films for our audience before they hits theaters,” she said.

Executive director Brian Ditchfield said he is particularly excited about the uniqueness of ENO’s premise.

“It’s a wonderful experiment,” he said. “I think it’s really fun that our Film Showcase gets to get to be part of that.”

Ms. Oh said she’s excited for audiences to experience the storytelling in Running on Sand.

“When a film plays like a documentary but it’s a narrative, and to have the ending be something you couldn’t have figured out...it’s pretty perfect,” she said.
