We are still in the warm day’s cool night pattern. We certainly cannot complain seeing what our southern friends are going through and what they are about to go through. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Wendella Rosa and Chevy Lavergne, who celebrated Oct. 5; Maria DeOliviera, Oct. 6; Erica Soules, Oct. 7; Catherine Moriarty and Arayah Sweeney, Oct. 10; and to Ryder Moore who celebrates her day today, Oct. 11.
It is 6:15 a.m. and I am ready to take the dog for her short walk around the school. Leaving my deck, I notice I have not missed the complete sunrise. I cross my road which has no one on it including the cars, just us two and the birds starting to chirp. Merida stops at the corner to sniff who was there last, and I glance over the school and the sky is that beautiful pink you can not create on paper, along with some yellow.
We walk towards the Boys & Girls Club which is still dark and quiet, and then we walk along the baseball field. No one is at the tennis courts and the playground is still and damp from the night air.
I glance at the sky again. The pink is softening and has added what I like to call a mackerel sky, made from the white clouds and wind whisking them around. The beautiful burning bush (euonymus) on the side of the school has turned that dark red that reminds you of fall.
Some teachers arrive to set up their classrooms, and a lady gets out of her car with a little bouquet of flowers for her room. She nods to me and says “What a beautiful sunrise.”
I reply in agreement, and am happy to know someone else enjoyed the morning sky.
I mentioned last week that the challenge was on to not turn on the heat until Nov. 1. Well, I noticed on social media this morning that a few of my friend’s said uncle on Monday morning, and turned their heat on. I write this early in the week, and watching the weather and temperatures for this week I think there will be a few more uncles added.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
