We finally got some much needed rain. I certainly slowed down the outside decorations, but there is always next week.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Willow Rosbeck, who celebrated Nov. 23; Helena Alves, Nov. 24; Emma Cekala, Stephanie Ribeiro, Nov. 27; and to Isadora Batista and Felype Da Silva who celebrate their day on Nov. 29.
Zach Waller and Ellen Powell welcomed their third child Charlotte in October. Charlotte made her first trip to Martha’s Vineyard earlier this month and her big sisters are crazy about her. Congratulations to all.
When the Gazette arrives on Friday, the turkey will have been carved, the leftovers tucked away in the refrigerator and the infamous turkey sandwich with stuffing cranberry sauce and mayo in the lunchbox. I hope you all had a great day.
Now the fun begins. Shopping, making cookies, wrapping and decorating. How did this time go by so fast? Save some time for Dec. 12 through the 15. There are lots of activities planned for the weekend, make sure you check out the schedules.
The Federated Church in Edgartown is preparing for its annual Festival of Wreaths. Workshops are planned for Dec. 2, 3 and 4, each one from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parish house at 45 South Summer street, Edgartown. Volunteers are needed to help hand-decorate the 75 wreaths, which will be sold during the festival to raise money for the pastor’s discretionary Fund to help Islanders in need. Feel free to bring your own gloves, scissors and clippers.
On Dec. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. the wreaths will be on sale and on display in the meetinghouse, while in the parish house there will be beverages, hors d’oeuvres, a raffle for a $250 gift certificate for the Net Result and a silent auction with many wonderful items. Peter Boak will be at the piano.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
