The daffodils are up and budded, and crocuses are blooming in different parts of the garden. Although we are still dealing with the ups and downs with the temperature, and we are getting our share of rain, at least the new colors of spring make you smile.

I remember as a little girl, watching John Glenn orbit the earth and then splash down. It was covered all day long. How far we have come since then. Men and women are going and coming from space now, working the space station, doing space walks and it is not even news. So, after spending more than nine months in space, which was not the plan, there were many eyes watching as the Space X Dragon ! splashdown Tuesday night. Watching the capsule bobbing in the ocean was just as exciting as when John Glenn landed and waiting to see the astronauts exit safely is always a relief to have them home and being home with their families.
The League of Women Voters of Martha’s Vineyard is hosting a candidate forum for candidates running for office in Edgartown. The forum will be on Saturday, March 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Edgartown Library. This is not a debate. Candidates running opposed will present their positions, answer questions asked by a moderator, and answer questions asked by the public. Candidates running unopposed will have a few minutes to speak and answer questions from the public. The forum will be recorded and televised at a later time on MVTV Channel 13 and on demand.
Happiness is the Dairy Queen opened last Friday. I missed the kids parade going from school right to get their favorite treat, but there are many happy faces, and a lot of them are adults. Happy Spring.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
