The weatherman said this has been the warmest September. We have been very lucky in all the weather patterns this year so far. Let’s hope October is just as nice.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Helena Goncalves, Sept. 28; Connor Beeson, Oct. 29; Colt Hannah, Olivia Hess, Samanta Morgnerova, Jocie Smith and Jax Trott, Sept. 30; Dylan Besson, Keiry Fonseca, Oct. 1; Ilianna Batista, Isla Ditchfield, Hailey Smith, Oct. 2; Robert Moriarty, Tristan Talbot, Lucy Tawa, Oct. 3, and to Shanoiya Coke and Mason Tawa who celebrate their day on Oct. 4.

Here we are in October. It does not seem possible that summer is over but Fall is here. The leaves are still green but there are some trees showing some change. The long sleeves are coming out, but the flip flops are still on. I am not ready for them to go away yet.

October is also the second half of the derby. There have been a lot of trucks and cars around with fishing poles on their vehicle. This weekend Jon Kresel visited to fish with his brother Josh Kresel. The Kresel’s moved here when Josh was in the seventh grade, from New Hampshire. His father Jim was a teacher at the high school and his mother Mary Ellen was a preschool teacher. Although the rest of his family moved off-Island, Josh has saltwater in his veins and has stayed here, working with Steve Ewing. It was good to see Jon and Josh fishing together and having a good time.

The MVRHS class of 1969 had their 50th class reunion this past weekend. I had been following Linda Frank LaBelle on Facebook, planning the weekend, as this would have been Ralph’s reunion. She posted pictures of the people who attended, which was quite a few. I am sorry if I miss someone, but those attending from Edgartown were Mike Dolby, Woody Williams, Jeannie Black, Mike Donaroma, Warren Jernegan, Stuart Walpole and Barry Nevin. It didn’t seem so long ago when we looked at other graduating classes celebrating their 50th and thought boy are they old. Now we know they were not really that old.
