Students from the West Tisbury School won a silver award for their submission to the 2019 Marine Debris Creative Advocacy Competition, sponsored by Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs.
The competition challenged middle and high school students from around the world to design and lead campaigns to reduce or prevent marine debris. Vineyard students entered the competition as members of Plastic Free MV and included: Emma Bena, Quinlan Slavin, G Jarrell, Elliot Stead, Jasper Ralph, Broden Vincent, Josephine Powers, Nola Savard, Eleanor Mone, Sylvi Carroll, Emily Boyd, Tasman Strom and Rodeo Purves-Langer.
The team leader is West Tisbury School teacher, Annemarie Ralph. Plastic Free MV received a $2500 total award for their campaign.
