A house fire at 38 Tradewinds Road in Oak Bluffs Monday afternoon prompted the town’s fire department to close the entrance to the nearby Oak Bluffs School, delaying dismissal.

The fire was reported around 1:40 p.m. Monday but the students were not in danger, according to police and school officials.

Fireighters found the blaze outside the two-story home and extinguished it, according to Oak Bluffs deputy fire chief Stephen Foster.

There were no injuries.  Residents were not at home, but a caretaker was there, Mr. Foster said.

With Tradewinds Road closed for an extended period, the elementary school had buses come through the Pheasant Lane gate entrance at 2:40 p.m. Parents picking students up were supposed to lineup nearby, according to emails from the school district.
