We have no adoptions to report this week but we have a very special pet of the week: Biscuit, a six months old, mixed breed puppy. We’re unsure of his breeds but are thinking Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Shetland Sheep Dog and/or Australian Shepherd. But whatever the breed, he is adorable. He’s a calm, gentle puppy and smart but will need training, as all puppies do. We believe he will be a medium size dog, about 30 to 40 pounds.

We also have two older cats that are available. Puck is a 10-year-old, medium hair, orange and white male with the sweetest personality. He’s also a real stunner. Come meet him and fall head over heels in love. Nellie is a beautiful 13-year-old, medium hair, torbi cat. She will need a special angel to adopt her as she is shy and fearful, yet is beginning to come around. Nellie will need a very patient owner who can coax her out of her shell. Nellie’s adoption fee will be waived due to her age.

The next nail clinic will be held this Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. until noon. Dogs must be leashed; cats, rabbits and Guinea pigs must be in carriers. Walk-ins only; $20 fee.

Have a new puppy? Jeremy Jones will be conducting puppy kindergarten classes at the Shelter beginning on Sunday, Sept. 15, running for six weeks. Please contact the shelter to register your puppy.

Also, if anyone is in need of cat food, dog food, or a crate, we have plenty and are happy to share. The Island Food Pantry also has pet food for those in need. Just give us a call during regular shelter hours:
