The sun has been shining, the sky is blue, and the temperature is above 30 degrees. Things are getting better.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Wyatt Grady, and Luca Quinton, who celebrated Feb. 22, Matheus Lage, Otavio Xavier, Feb. 24, and to Kallyne Grouga, who celebrated her day Feb. 25.

It is amazing what a little sun and warmth can do to your spirits. For me I get more energy, and I did what my mother would say, open the windows and change the air in the house, even if it is only 10 minutes, it makes a huge difference. There were more people out walking, the dogs wanted to stay out longer and soak up the sun, there were kids at the playground, boys practicing lacrosse, and kids playing soccer. It felt like spring, and I know we have March to go through, but it felt so good.

I drove through town and saw some very empty stores that I hope will fill up, The Wharf and Rockfish are both closed for their break and to freshen up. When I went by Murdick’s Fudge, there were lights on and someone cleaning windows and more people walking around than I have seen in the last few weeks. So, it seems we might start waking up the town soon.

I went by the nursery to visit, and the girls had just moved the senetti, and ranunculus plants to the front greenhouses. These are the plants that make you really like spring with their bright colors, and they last until the early summer annuals come in. The girls have been busy planting all winter and the plants are looking strong and healthy. I think we forget the whole process of the growing as some of these plants were started before Christmas and have gone through several different size pots. But the outcome is beautiful and makes many people smile and their gardens are beautiful, and that makes all the work worth it.

Have a great day and keep the home candles burning
