Go to a party, eat great food, hang with neighbors and do good at the same time. It is, as the saying goes, a no-brainer. Or better known as the Chilmark Firemen’s Association Back Yard Bash.
The bash is an annual event to raise money for the all-volunteer town fire department. And since it doesn’t rain anymore, except for this past weekend, that is, the fire department is more essential than ever.
The party takes place tomorrow evening, Wednesday, August 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Chilmark Community Center field. Yes, that’s usually the site and time for Cinema Circus, but tonight the stars are not on screen, but are rather the folks who keep our homes and forests safe from errant flames.
Bring a lawn chair or blanket; the atmosphere is relaxed. After all, no worries when it’s the firemen, (rather than heavy-on-the-lighter-fluid Uncle Joe), keeping the barbecue coals burning bright, but not too bright.
