On Thursday, April 25, an order of nachos and a quesadilla can support a worthy cause. One hundred per cent of all food sales at Sharky’s Cantina in Edgartown and Oak Bluffs between 3 and 11 p.m. will be donated to The One Fund. The foundation helps those affected by the recent bombings at the Boston Marathon.

JB Blau, owner of Sharky’s Cantina, the Martha’s Vineyard Chowder Company and the Dreamland nightclub, is no stranger to dine-to-donate nights and local fundraisers. His restaurants routinely host dine-to-donate nights and benefit events. But having grown up a little over a mile from the finish line and spent 20 years watching the marathon, he said this particular event hit close to home. Given that many Islanders know someone who was affected as well, he felt it important to provide a community fund-raising venue as well as a place for the Island community to come together to grieve.

“It’s just something we felt we had to do and we’re very glad to be able to help in some way,” Mr. Blau said. “As usual, the Vineyard comes together to help. We just provide a location for it.”

Mr. Blau said he also plans to host a fundraiser at the Dreamland in the future, which he hopes will feature national acts with a connection to the Vineyard.
