Kites fly high at Ocean Park. Ivy Ashe

Saturday, September 6, 2014

Gloomy rain clouds gave way to blue skies and a ruffle of a breeze Saturday afternoon, just in time for the fourth annual Martha's Vineyard Wind Festival celebration at Ocean Park. Kites soared high above the green grass and the dozens of people gathered on the lawn, most of whom were looking upwards to check their kite's progress.

At a nearby tent, volunteers led kite-making workshops, while others stood by with ready-made kites for eager fliers.

The event also featured kite-flying contests for all ages.
