We had a short feeling of summer this past weekend. There were many reports of people with their toes in the sand, the short and tank tops were out and people were smiling and enjoying the sun. But that was short lived and we are back to long pants and sweatshirts. Oh how I love New England.
Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Jonas De Oliveira and Jenife Santos who celebrated May 20; Matthew D’Andrea, Nicholas Ribeiro, May 21; Braeden Jeffery, Lukas Smith, May 22; Cayden Bresett, Espen Desquenne, May 23; Anita Cabral, Ryan Murray, May 25; and to Lukas Marcelino, who celebrates his day May 26.
It was a great weekend for catching up with friends as they arrive to open their houses or are just here to get things ready for Memorial Day.
We had a busy weekend and we could not catch up with most people but saw many of our very regular customers, who we were happy to see and at least find out they had a good winter. The landscapers were loading up carts to fill the gardens of clients coming this weekend. It was great to see them all and looking healthy.
This past weekend was prom weekend. The young ladies and gentlemen keep getting younger and younger but no less beautiful and handsome. Facebook was full of proud parents and relatives showing off their child and his or her date.
The pictures were beautiful and they had their group pictures taken at Polly Hill Arboretum in West Tisbury and the background was beautiful. I loved looking at all the family pictures until it came to me that not too long ago I was looking at the parents’ prom pictures. Word has it that they all had a great time at Lola’s, but the best news was everyone was safe and happy.
This is the weekend we all look forward to. It is a long weekend, people arrive, the weather is usually nice and we can have barbeques and maybe a ride to the beach.
With all this going on we sometimes get caught up in all the action and forget about the real meaning of this holiday. Please take time from your activities and remember the men and women who spent their holidays or birthday’s or any day away from their families to protect us and fight for our independence and keep us safe. Sometimes thank you is enough but I think appreciation is even better.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
