Jill Jupen has been selected as the 2019-2021 Poet Laureate of Martha’s Vineyard.

According to a press release announcing her appointment, Ms. Jupen is the founder of the Martha’s Vineyard Poets Collectives, teaches poetry workshops around the Island, has been published in numerous literary journals and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Her chapbook is titled The Space Between.

The Poet Laureate is an Islandwide advocacy position that promotes the art of poetry on Martha’s Vineyard. Previous poet laureates include Justen Ahren, Arnie Reisman and Lee McCormack.

A reception will be held for Ms. Jupen on Saturday, April 6, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the West Tisbury Public Library.
