Ralph E. Sherman, of Chilmark, died on April 3 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was 88.

Howard Scott Steward, of Oak Bluffs, died on April 3 at his home. He was 91.

Hans Peter Stibolt Jr. of Oak Bluffs died at his home on March 4. He was 100.

Stephen Alan Spongberg died at home in Westwood on March 18. The cause was complications related to oral cancer. He was 78.

Virginia Jeffery Stevenson, a retired dog breeder and trainer, died March 6 in Collegeville, Pa. She was 81.

Vera Shorter died at her home on Martha’s Vineyard on Feb. 26 with her two daughters nearby. She was 98.

Robin Schoener of Oak Bluffs died Feb.3 after a long and valiant fight with appendix cancer. She was 67.

Henry Platt Brightwell Staunton died Jan. 27, surrounded by his loving family. He was 77.

Martha Moore Schmidt died Sept. 25 with family by her side. She was 90.
