The annual Christmas Bird Count had begun, as birders spread out across the Island to spot, count and identify as many birds as possible. It would be a long New Year’s day, starting before dawn and ending in darkness. The birds rarely stayed put, and neither did the birders.

such a delight to read! On Christmas Day, we counted 17 different species at our birdfeeders (including ground feeders). The work that of people such as LuAnn and others, has only enriched our lives here on the island. Be sure to keep planting your gardens and trees to support species!

Much to my delight many members of our wren community frequent my feeders and warm bird bath!
