May you know that much spills over the 49th parallel.... many in Canada are feeling frustrated, even hopeless. There are over 100 known white supremacist groups in this country (you probably have ten times that, if not more). Lately there's been an escalation of "hate" events here: graffiti on mosque, synagogue, church walls; provocative incidents in mass transit. Both heartbreaking and alarming (never happened before at a school) when a little boy with darker skin was taunted by white kids, calling him a terrorist. It should be noted that Trump did not invent these incidents nor the groups and thinking behind them; but since the election one feels (even in Canada) that he has given a legitimacy to more open aggression, divisiveness and (dare I say it) hate. By the way, I'm an American living here, with many (not simply old draft dodgers but an intriguing mix of professionals) calling Nova Scotia home..... they've long been concerned about the increasing political polarity in the States. Others have bought second homes here as their vacation or sane "escape" option.
