Closed since March due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club Second Hand Store will not be reopening at its longtime rented location on North Summer street in Edgartown.
Jessie Damroth, who has led the club for the past four years, will leave effective August 31, the club board of directors announced in a press release Saturday morning.
Selectmen voted Friday to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Boys and Girls Club related to the planned purchase of 21 acres off the Edgartown-West Tisbury Road.
The historic club, which serves more than 1,800 Island children each year, has signed an agreement to buy 21 acres of land for an eventual new campus in Edgartown, club leaders confirmed.
